First Version of the Factory Game

Devlog #1 – First Version of the Factory Game
After several weeks of development, the first version of my factory game is finally complete. The core idea of the game is to take primitive shapes – Sphere, Cube, Pyramid, and Cylinder – and gradually combine them into complex 3D objects.
Core Mechanics
Players start with simple base shapes that can be processed in production chains. Each form can be combined or transformed in different ways, leading to increasingly complex objects. The main challenge is to build an efficient production flow that steadily increases in sophistication.
Technical State
-
Core mechanics: All four base shapes are fully implemented.
-
Production logic: Combinations and transformations are stable and working.
-
User Interface: Kept minimalistic to keep the focus on the building process.
-
Performance: Early tests show smooth gameplay even with multiple parallel production chains.
Current Focus – Balancing
The next big step is balancing. Production times and the score of finished objects need to be fine-tuned. The goal is to find the right balance between challenge and reward:
-
If production is too fast, the game loses tension.
-
If progress is too slow, it risks becoming frustrating.
-
Managing resources and timing should provide strategic depth.
Next Steps
-
Fine-tuning production chains.
-
Working on progression design (unlocking new objects, difficulty curves).
-
First considerations for look & feel (visual effects, sound feedback).
Conclusion
The foundation is solid! The core mechanics are in place, and now it’s time to shape the balance – which will ultimately define the game’s character and feel. I’m excited to see how the gameplay evolves in the next weeks.
